E-Energy - Information and communication technology-based energy system of the future

E-Energy aims to closely link IC technologies to the electricalenergy supply system in order to optimise cost-effectiveness,supply security and environmental friendliness. By setting up six model regions, this beacon project intends to illustrate the great benefits of the "Internet of Energy" along the entire value added chain, from generation through to the end consumer. In all, 42 companies and academic institutions are involved in this initiative. The six projects have different objectives:

  • eTelligence - Intelligence for energy, markets and networks
  • E-DeMa - To develop and demonstrate decentralised, networked energy systems through to the E-Energy marketplace of the future.
  • MEREGIO - To develop minimum emission regions
  • MoMa - Model city Mannheim, in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan area
  • RegModHarz
    Regenerative model region Harz
  • Smart W@TTS - Improve the energy system's self-regulatory capability by establishing an Internet of Energy

Associated academic research commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) aims to ensure the coherence of the various projects within the initiative and to ensure that the findings are quickly published. Other tasks involve linking the individual projects and the associated area. The associated research is being done by B.A.U.M.-Consult, Munich Technical University, Darmstadt Technical University, incowia GmbH and LoeschHundLiepold Kommunikations GmbH.
