Next Generation Media

Under the "Next Generation Media -Networked Intelligent Systems" initiative, funding is being provided to help eleven joint research and development projects involving 60 participants to develop, test and apply new technologies and standards for intelligent objects, and to network them in four application areas:

  • Consumer electronics in networked systems
  • Intelligent logistics networks
  • Intelligent networking of production facilities
  • Intelligent systems in the health care sector

    The funding aims to produce reference models and examples of best practice that demonstrate feasibility and economic benefits and thus inspire others to do similar.

    Associated academic research commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) is to ensure the coherence of the individual projects within the initiative and ensure that the findings are quickly published. Other tasks involve linking the individual projects and the associated area. The associated research is being carried out by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH in partnership with the MMB Institute for Media and Competence Research.
