SimoBIT - the secure use of mobile information technology (IT) in SMEs and administrative bodies

Under the SimoBIT initiative, funding is provided to cooperative research projects aimed at developing, testing and the widespread use of innovative and secure mobile multimedia applications for improving productivity and quality in business and administration. The 12 joint projects involving 59 companies and academic institutions are primarily working to mobilise process and value added chains in these sectors:

  • Health Care
  • Public administration
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Crafts and small companies

Associated academic research commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) aims to ensure the coherence of the various projects within the initiative and to ensure that the findings are quickly published. Other tasks involve linking the individual projects and the associated area. The associated research is being done by WIK-Consult in partnership with VIVAI-Software AG.
